Design Brief
This project focuses on creating a typographic motion piece that communicates action through time and movement. Students will practice designing for motion across multiple production stages, using play and experimentation to explore how type behaves dynamically.
Brainstorming, Ideation and Iteration
I began by creating a list of at least 20 action verbs, 10 starting with the first letter of my first name and 10 with the first letter of my last name. From that list, I selected three verbs to explore through type experiments, producing 15 sketches (five per verb) that visualized each word as a single-motion frame. After reviewing my ideas, I chose one verb to move forward with and created a morphological matrix to map out different movement and visual possibilities for my final animation concept.

Storyboard and Animatic
I created a storyboard that outlined the intended motion of my action verb, including scene and shot numbers for clarity and organization. Then I turned my storyboard frames and assembled them into an animatic, timing the sequence to match the planned pace and length of my final kinetic typography animation. I focused on clarity and pacing, keeping in mind that quality was more important than quantity.
