Statement of Intent
This design tells a story through the art of movement within the pages of a handmade book. As the user interacts with each page they follow the journey of the song “Gimme!, Gimme! Gimme!” by ABBA as seen in the classic film ‘Mamma Mia!’. Through the use of glitter, watercolors, flashy bright colors, and the fashion flip page we channeled our inner child. The pop-up book as a whole was meant to catch your eye once you opened it up. The simplistic, yet subtly flashy cover sets the tone for the rest of the book and its designs. We utilized both graphics and hand-drawn elements to display our interactive mechanisms. Through a variety of cuts and folds, we were able to create a series of pop-up elements that moved throughout the pages telling the story of the song along the way.

Reflection
Throughout this process, I was encouraged to explore the industrial side of design and push myself to go outside of my comfort zone. I was able to combine my digital skills with my physical design skills. We aimed to give off a childish, fun vibe with each page and each movement. Both my partner and I had an immediate interest in performing the paper mechanisms through the form of a pop-up book. We brainstormed ideas for a song that creatively inspired us from the artist ABBA. We both focused on our strong suits in design and worked together to create the book. Communication and time management were key factors of this partner project. We initially had plans to add more pages and designs to the book, however, due to time restraints we had to compose our ideas and focus on the strongest ones. I would have loved to add more detail to the covers and binding. Overall, I learned a lot about working with others and the difficulty behind creating mechanisms.
